94.9 MIXfm/Tucson Plans New Lineup for 2017

94.9 MIXfm (KMXZ), Tucson’s premiere adult contemporary music station, is starting 2017 off with a brand new afternoon show, “Bobby Rich Celebrates Tucson,” featuring Bobby Rich, effective Jan. 3, 2017.

After 24 years of cheerfully waking up Tucson, Rich will venture into the afternoon drive, weekdays from 3-7 p.m. He leaves the Morning MIX team in the capable hands and voices of co-hosts Greg Curtis and Mrs. Grant who will continue to anchor The Morning MIX from 5-10 a.m. The midday show from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. will feature Marty Bishop and Tucson’s best workday music mix.

“We are extending the love and laughs we established with our popular Morning MIX team to the afternoons,” said Leon Clark, vice president and general manager for Tucson radio operations for The E.W. Scripps Company (NYSE: SSP). “Bobby is a Tucson radio icon and Arizona Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame inductee. He has an abundance of personality and energy to keep our listeners entertained and inspired every afternoon.”

Rich’s current MIXfm show has been recognized as the “Best of the City” for consecutive years by the Arizona Daily Star, Tucson Weekly and Tucson Lifestyle.

“In addition to playing lots of music and entertaining my audience with my silly and unpredictable comments, I’ll be focusing on our community in every show,” said Rich. “I want my affection for Tucson to truly shine through and I can’t wait to get started.”

Scripps is committed to serving the Tucson community through its multiple platforms with radio, television and digital brands. Scripps has four radio stations, two TV stations and many digital brands to keep audiences informed.

"It's an honor to be part of Tucson's morning routine,” said Greg Curtis. “Our listeners know they can count on us for good, clean fun and lots of energy.”

“I’ve been connecting with our listeners here for 14 years and it’s been nine years for Greg, so we really know our Tucson community well,” said Mrs. Grant. “We look forward to plenty of interaction and great music to get our listeners moving in the morning.”
