AAF Tucson Award Winners to be honored March 11, 2017

AAF Tucson will honor the local market’s best in creative advertising on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Casino Del Sol Resort during its themed ADDY Awards® celebration, Luck Be An ADDY Tonight

Winners notifications and invitations are out for the event, which recognizes and showcase the area’s outstanding advertising creative work for the previous year. The event begins at 5 pm with cocktails and a Creative Showcase Gallery display of entries submitted in this year’s competition, followed by dinner and the presentation of awards.

Judges have chosen winners from 326 interactive, digital, broadcast and print entries submitted by local agencies, businesses and individuals from throughout Tucson and Southern Arizona, including university and college students. 

Reservation rates for the gala event are currently $85 for AAF Tucson members, $100 for non-members and $70 for Ad2 Tucson members, Emeritus members and students. Tables of 10 are also available for $850 Reservations may be completed and paid for in advance online at

The Tucson competition is sponsored by AAF Tucson and Ad2 Tucson, joint member trade associations comprised of local advertising, marketing, public relations and media professionals. Proceeds from the ADDY Awards competition and event help support educational programs, public service projects and proactive government relations efforts of both chapters.

American Advertising Federation Tucson and Ad2 Tucson are comprised of more than 300 local advertising professional members. These non-profit trade associations work to enhance the professional development of club members and recognition for the advertising industry while raising funds to support advertising education initiatives and the local community. 9th Annual Tucson Area High School Graphic Design Championships


Our advisory board, the Arizona Design Education Network, is organizing this year's regional competition to be held at Pima Community College's West Campus on Friday February 10th.

Judging Sign-Up: TAHSGDC 2017 (ninth annual)
TAHSGDC will take place on Friday February 10th 2017 at the Pima Community College's West Campus (at Speedway & Greasewood) in room CG 03 of the Santa Catalina Building.

• Student-competitions will run from 8:30am - 2pm.

• Presentations and judging will take place from 2-4:30pm

• Any local professionals who work in a graphic design related field who are willing to volunteer their time are welcome to join for this event. You'll have a chance to network with area creatives, and provide meaningful feedback to the student-designers.

University of Arizona Eller College of Management 2017 AdFair

AdFAIR, a celebration of advertising, will take place Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 5:30-7:00 pm at the University of Arizona Eller College of Management in McClelland Hall Estes Atrium and Berger Auditorium.  

Three alumni will present, Liz Tanori, Ryan Greer and Katie Hundere.  You will have a chance to meet and greet students from the University of Arizona who have interest in Advertising as a career.

The event begins with meet and greet in the atrium, then presentation by the Alumni and benefactor Phil Hagenah in Berger Auditorium, then back to atrium to talk to students who are energized.

Presented annually by AAF Tucson, the Media Sales Professional of the Year award honors collaboration and partnership with the creative professionals in the market. 


  • Works with Agencies and Marketers to fully understand their Marketing objectives.
  • Is a strong advocate for Agencies and their Clients within their own media organization.
  • Develops new channels and opportunities for marketers to deliver impactful creative.
  • Builds relationships with the creative professionals within the organizations they sell to.
  • Demonstrates an appreciation for creativity and a desire to ensure the best work is presented to the community.

The Marketing Executive of the Year award honors excellence, professionalism and outstanding achievement in marketing.


  • Demonstrates innovation in marketing to achieve company objectives including business results and problem solving.
  • Utilizes multiplatform strategies to successfully Position Company’s brand/product in the local marketplace.
  • Delivers insight based marketing strategies to create impactful, targeted communication that generates awareness and positive opinion.

The Creative Professional of the Year will be awarded to the most creative, influential, driven and prominent individual in the creative space.

The Local Production of the Year award honors the best station produced work in the market for either self- promotion or a client campaign


  • Work is produced by the local station for the market – cannot be an edited version of a national campaign.
  • Celebrates/positively represents the local marketplace.
  • Clearly communicates the intended message
  • Delivers a memorable image of the station or client in a creative way.
  • Quality of the work is at par with the best work in the market.

Two new award categories have been added this year: Digital Marketing Campaign of the Year, which will honor outstanding achievement in the digital marketing space through the successful execution of a digitally focused campaign. 


  • Demonstrates Innovation in online or digital marketing to achieve company or client objectives, and employs a superior level of creativity, including design, content, functionality, and leaves a lasting impression
  • Utilizes a multiplatform approach, including, but not limited to, website/microsite, social media marketing, search engine marketing, digital audio, video, or apps
  • Demonstrates insight based strategies for delivery and targeted execution
  • Tells an impactful story that is cohesive throughout all elements of the campaign

And Social Media Marketing Campaign of the Year, honoring outstanding achievement and success of a social media marketing campaign. 


  • Demonstrates Innovation in social media activation to achieve company or client objectives, and employs  a superior level of creativity, including design, content, functionality, and leaves a lasting impression, and encourages engagement and virility across one or more social media channels
  • Campaign can use a multiplatform approach, and does not need to include paid media to qualify. Marketing channels should focus on social media marketing (paid or organic), website/microsite, or video distribution on social platforms
  • Demonstrates insight based strategies for delivery and targeted execution
  • Tells an impactful story that is cohesive throughout all elements of the campaign

All nominations must include name, contact information and less than 500 words describing how each nominee meets the criteria. Please use the online submission form to enter your nomination and upload supporting creative.
