2016 Marketing Executive of the Year

Robert Santiago
Marketing Director

Robert is a marketing and communications executive with 20+ years of work experience.  He is passionate about big ideas that deliver results and prides himself in being a strategic thinker with a passion for developing and implementing business-building ideas. 

He is currently the Director of Marketing at eegee's where his role includes managing all aspects of marketing and advertising for the 45 year old QSR chain with 24 locations in Arizona. He is responsible for brand strategy, creative development, media buying, digital and social media and sponsorships.

Prior to joining eegee's in 2013, Robert spent more than a decade on the advertising agency side of the business.  The last 12 as the SVP, Director of Client Services for Orci in Santa Monica, CA where he led the Client Services, Media and Account Planning teams on a variety of brands including American Honda, Acura, Jack in the Box, Angel Soft, Brawny, Quilted Northern, Splenda, Lactaid, Dole Foods, NBA and more.   He had P&L accountability for accounts totaling $60 million in billings. He directed marketing strategy development and creative production processes internally while managing senior level Agency-Client relationships. His agency experience was chronicled in an episode of the AMC original series The Pitch.   Other agency experience includes Asher & Partners, Los Angeles and McCann-Erickson, San Francisco.

Robert is a proud graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles with a B.A in Communication Studies including a specialization in Mass Communications. In his spare time you will find him on a field or a court playing the role of coach for his various youth baseball, basketball and football teams.

Cara joined Simpleview in 2008 as a Sales Associate and is now Director of Marketing & Communications. In her role, Cara is responsible for the communication and marketing efforts of Simpleview products and services. Her past experience includes working with Simpleview clients as a Sales Associate and also as the Director of Convention Services for the Greater Madison Convention and Visitors (GMCVB). She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and works from the Wisconsin Simpleview office.

Alfredo started his advertising career in 1993, as an Account Executive with El Impartial in Tucson. He sold Spanish language print advertising to American businesses trying to reach the Sonoran market. In 1995 he moved into television sales at Telemundo, where he continued to sell Spanish language advertising for both local and regional accounts. The three years he spent with Telemundo introduced Alfredo to the ins and outs of broadcast television sales and gave him a strong base for the rest of his sales career. In 1998, Alfredo’s Telemundo experience opened up an opportunity to work for Cox Media as a Media Consultant for Southern Arizona, where he still works today. He enjoys working with local and regional clients to help them develop custom solutions for cable television and digital marketing campaigns.

Kim was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago and after a childhood of shoveling snow and the frigid cold winters, was thrilled to attend the University of Arizona.  Upon graduation, enamored by the beauty of the Southwest and the growth opportunities in the Old Pueblo, she decided to make Tucson her home and has worked in local media sales since 1989.

Kim has worked in Tucson radio, cable television and magazine print over the last 26 years, and has spent the last 7 years at iHeartMedia.

Passionate about giving back to the community, Kim has always volunteered and been a member of numerous philanthropic and industry related organizations.  She is currently on the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of Arizona, Treasurer for the Catalina Foothills High School Swim Team Boosters Club, and a member of National Charity League and Tucson Advertising Federation.

Kim is the proud mother of two children: Savannah, a current U of A Wildcat - and Sean, a junior at Catalina Foothills High School.

After decades in media sales, Kim still deeply enjoys helping her clients achieve their marketing objectives and is grateful for the opportunity to work in an ever-changing and exciting industry.

Bradley C. Smith, Market Manager-Lamar Advertising-Tucson, has more than 16 years of experience in  advertising sales & marketing. He is currently responsible for the advertising sales for the Sun Tran buses as well as the Sun Link Street Car.

Brad launched the Tucson market for Lamar in December of 2013 and he has been going 100 mph ever since.  Brad has been tremendously successful at Lamar and was a member of the prestigious Mountain West Platinum Club for sales success in 2014 and 2015. He takes great pride in being able to provide eye catching ads to businesses all over Tucson - ads that cannot be turned off, tuned out or thrown away.

When Brad is not talking bus or street car ads, he can be found spending time with his wife Traci and their two beautiful daughters, Grace and Emma.

Michael Caballero is a distinguished and talented art director and designer. A multiple Gold ADDY Award winner, he has worked with the team at Casino Del Sol for the past fifteen years, bringing remarkable focus and creative energy to the brand. As Graphic Design Supervisor, Mike is responsible for the production of all advertising and marketing materials for the resort, encompassing conceptual and brand ideation across a wide range of mediums. With all the qualities of a fine artist, blended with a smart and efficient business acumen, Mike Caballero is a unique leader and the work that is produced under his steady and creative guidance is the result.

2016 marks the 25th year Don Abbott has been involved in broadcasting as a writer, producer, director, videographer, voiceover artist and actor. He’s produced literally hundreds of commercials, TV shows and video content for the Tucson market. Don has been the Creative Director and owner of Abbott Media Productions since 2007, and he’s the recipient of more than 30 awards including; several ADDY Best of Show, local and regional Gold ADDY’s, National Telly Awards and a National Gold Empixx Award.

Don has recently launched his latest venture, Abbott Animation, which creates groundbreaking animation, and develops interactive and mobile apps to more effectively connect with new technology. Visit for more information.

As a key member of Simpleview’s creative department since 2012, Lisa harnesses the talents, energy and enthusiasm to deliver innovative designs that result in a lifetime of brand loyalty. Since 1984, she has provided her creative talents to start-up companies and Fortune 100 corporations, including the Dial Corporation, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Bath & Body Works and Nordstrom.

Today, she works with destination marketing organizations to create strong, long-lasting bonds with their visitors. Lisa received her Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the University of Ohio.

March 13, 2016 – AAF Tucson has announced winners of four new annual special recognition honors. The awards were presented during the 35th Annual ADDY Awards® gala event at the Casino Del Sol Resort on Saturday, March 12, 2016.

Media Sales Professional of the Year

This award honors collaboration and partnership with the creative professionals in the market.

AAF Tucson 2016 ADDY Awards Winners Press Release

March 13, 2016 – AAF Tucson honored its 2016 ADDY Awards® competition winners at a black-tie gala, “Casino Royale” on March 12, 2016 at Casino Del Sol Resort. A total of 340 entries competed in 102 categories, with 107 Gold, Silver and Bronze awards presented. 

In addition, a Special Judges Award for Copywriting went to JOmojo Design + Marketing for Merry Christmas, Eve - CD Packaging in the Packaging - Single Unit category.

Three Best of Show Awards were also presented. The DesertLeaf earned Best of Show Print for The Beautiful Bodies of Mothers in Publication Design - Editorial Spread or Feature.  Crown Chimp Productions received Best of Show Film for Little Girl Lost trailer in Cinematography. The Student Best of Show award went to Emiko Higman from The Art Institute of Tucson for WWF: Polluted Waters in the Student Magazine – Single category. 

All Gold and Silver ADDY Award® winners of the local competition are eligible to compete in the second level of a three-tiered ADDY® Awards competition, the AAF District 12 ADDY® Awards which will be hosted in Tucson on April 8-9. AAF District 12 is comprised of AAF and Ad2 chapters in Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico and El Paso, Texas.

District winners will be eligible for the ultimate competition, the AAF American Advertising Awards. National awards will be presented June 7th at the Disneyland Resort Hotel in Anaheim, California during Admerica 2016, the American Advertising Federation’s National Conference.

The local ADDY Awards® Competition is conducted by AAF Tucson.  Proceeds from help support the Federation’s educational programs, public service projects and proactive government relations efforts.

Anheuser-Busch to be Inducted into AAF's 67th Advertising Hall of Fame

Mar. 10, 2016 - The American Advertising Federation announced today that Anheuser-Busch will be the corporate inductee at the 67th annual Advertising Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies and Gala Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City on April 11, 2016. Jorn Socquet, Vice President of Marketing, Anheuser-Busch, will accept the award on behalf of the company.

“Anheuser-Busch is honored to join this distinguished list of marketers in the Advertising Hall of Fame,” said Jorn Socquet, Vice President of Marketing, Anheuser-Busch. “For more than a century, the Anheuser-Busch name has been synonymous with iconic advertising, establishing Budweiser as the King of Beers and propelling Bud Light to become the number one beer brand in America. It’s a legacy we’re proud to uphold as we continuously challenge ourselves to connect with our consumers in new and inventive ways.”
