The ADDY Awards® are the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting a combined total of 80,000 entries in local ADDY competitions each year. The mission of the ADDY competition is to recognize and reward creative excellence in the art of advertising.

Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the local American Advertising Awards (formerly known as the ADDY Awards®) is the first of a three-tiered, national competition. Concurrently, all across the country, local entrants vie for recognition as the very best in their markets. At the second tier, local winners compete against other winners in one of 15 District competitions. District winners are then forwarded to the third tier, the National ADDY Awards competition. Entry in your local ADDY competition is the first step toward winning a National ADDY.

Entering the ADDY competition supports our entire industry, because the AAF and its local and district affiliates use the proceeds to enhance advertising through programs such as public service, internships, advocacy groups, advertising education, and consumer awareness.

A scoring process in which a panel of judges evaluates all creative dimensions of every entry effects selection of the most creative entry in each category. In each category, a GOLD ADDY is recognition of the highest level of creative excellence and is judged to be superior to all other entries in the competition. Entries that are also considered outstanding and worthy of recognition receive SILVER ADDYs. In some markets, a BRONZE ADDY may also be awarded. The number of awards given in each category is determined by the judges, based on the relative quality of work in that category.

The Student ADDY Awards® is also a three-tiered national competition, which is sponsored by the AAF and National Ad 2. Occurring in conjunction with the prestigious ADDY Awards, the Student ADDY Awards recognize and reward creative excellence by students. Information on entering the Student ADDY Awards may be found in the local Rules and Categories documentation.

Copyright infringement and/or plagiarism (be it intentional or unintentional) will result in the disqualification and, if applicable, removal of awards from any entry deemed in violation. All entry fees will be forfeited.

Please note entry categories were revised last year to include several new opportunities to submit new creative work. Be sure to read the latest rules & categories document for complete details.

Julio Lima
Julio Lima

Julio Lima is a creative activist, designer, visionary, art director and award-winning creative director with more than 30 years in the advertising industry. Julio began his career in 1983 with one of the Southeast's largest agencies, RY&P. Years later, he moved to Greenstone Roberts, and in 1991 he started his own company under the name, “iT! Design", until he joined forces with two partners and co-founded Push. After seven highly successful years at Push, Julio left to start his own agency, Say It Loud! in 2003.

If one word describes Julio, it’s “creative”. When he started Say It Loud!, he could have given himself any title he wanted, but instead of “CEO” or “president” he gave himself the title of “creative activist”. He did this because he is adamant about the creative product, and not just for Say It Loud!, but for the advancement of creativity in the Orlando advertising community as a whole. Some of the most groundbreaking work developed in Central Florida has been created by Julio or by a group with which he has been associated.

As awards go, Julio has won every local award in the industry and many of those were “best of” wins – a total of eight “Best of Show” (4 with Push, 4 with Say It Loud!). To date, he is the only Central Florida creative to have won the prestigious One Show Gold Pencil. Throughout his career he has helped steer his agencies to create work that not only wins industry awards, but that also breaks through the middle-of-the-road clutter and helps his clients succeed because of it.
