Patty Ruiz
Patty Ruiz
General Sales Manager
KUDF TV-14
Azteca America-LM Media

Born in Bisbee, Patty Ruiz grew up in Tucson.  Since graduating from Sunnyside High School on the South side, Patty’s name has been synonymous with Sales as well as Hispanic marketing. Patty started her broadcast career at (KXEW?) radio in 1974, then moved to KMSB TV 11 in Sales.  There she also hosted a show featuring movies in Spanish, “ Cine en Tucson con Patricia.” Her involvement in showcasing the Hispanic community in media led her to Telemundo, where she was General Sales Manager, overseeing both Tucson and Phoenix.  She was also a minority partner.

In each phase of her Media Sales career, Patty has had a profound influence in the promotion of the Tucson community through major events. In one instance, she strategically combined media sales opportunities with the Tucson International Mariachi Conference to benefit La Frontera and the community at large. These efforts made the Mariachi Conference one of the events most identified with Tucson nationally and internationally.

Patty has always been known for her tireless efforts in promoting general market and Hispanic market events and organizations: she was an original Board member and founder, then Vice-President of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; she is a recipient of the LULAC FBI Community Service Award for Outstanding Dedication to the Hispanic Community.

Patty’s success in Sales, reflected in honors such as AAFT’s Warren F. Olsen Award for Sales and Community Service and the Phoenix Valle del Sol Profiles of Success Leadership Award, can be traced to her active career-long involvement in her community.

Patty was an original member of American Women in Radio and Television, serving on the Board and as President (?). Most of all, Patty is proud of serving as AAFT past President and being inducted into the AAFT Hall of Fame. Her other Board memberships include Concerned Media Professionals, El Rio Neighborhood Center, Project Yes, and the THCC Foundation.

In her long Sales career, Patty has also managed the Hispanic division for Clear Channel Radio, and is currently the General Sales Manager for Azteca Tucson, overseeing National and local Sales.

Patty Ruiz will leave her legacy in Sales, as two of her three children follow in her Media Sales  footsteps: son Michael Ruiz is National Sales Manager for Cox Media in Phoenix, and daughter Sonia Ruiz is Senior Account Executive for I Heart Media.
