AAF Tucson Names New Officers for 2015/2016

June 24, 2015 -American Advertising Federation Tucson has elected its President, Vice Presidents and Board of Directors for 2015-2016.

The new OFFICERS include PRESIDENT Miguel Cruz, VP of marketing for Tucson Federal Credit Union; 1st VICE PRESIDENT & SECRETARY/TREASURER Andy Schwabe, manager of marketing & creative services at E.W. Scripps Company; 2nd VICE PRESIDENT Roman Sandoval, owner of Sandoval Creative; and 3rd VICE PRESIDENT Steve Earnhart, director of sales at iHeartMedia.The IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT is Kerry Stratford, principal at The Caliber Group. The EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR is Pearl Ford-Fyffe.

The BOARD OF DIRECTORS include Doug Burke, publisher of Tucson Lifestyle Magazine; Linda Fahey, partner of Dark Horse Media; Ken Kwilosz, general manager of Arizona Lotus Communications; Steven Meckler, president of Steven Meckler Photography; Steve Neely, chief marketing officer for Casino del Sol Resort; Paul Rose, vice president of Film Creations, Ltd; Mike Saffer, VP of sales at Clear Channel Outdoor; Robert Santiago, director of marketing for Eggees; and Danny Vinik, president and creative director of Brink Media. Tucson winners of the 2015 AAF American Advertising Awards

TUCSON, AZ (June 16, 2015) – One professional and one student each brought home awards from the American Advertising Federation’s (AAF) American Advertising Awards competition, held recently in Washington, D.C. with a distinguished judging panel of advertising professionals from across the country.  Their work earned eligibility after winning among entrants from throughout Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming and El Paso, Texas in the AAF District 12 competition.

The AAF Tucson winners then entered the national AAF competition, which included entries from professionals and students from 180 federation clubs throughout the United States. AAF announced results of the national competition judging at the National American Advertising Awards gala event held Saturday, June 13th in Las Vegas, Nevada during the 2015 AAF National Conference, Admerica.

Buffalo Exchange received a national Silver ADDY Award® for their entry titled Buffalo Exchange 40th Anniversary Airstream Pop-up Shop. The entry also won a Gold ADDY Award® and Best of Show Out of Home in the local competition, and a Silver ADDY Award® at the District level competition.

Matthew Mann
from The Art Institute of Tucson accepted a national Silver Student ADDY Award® for his entry titled Home Depot Billboards”. His entry also won a Gold Student ADDY Award® from AAF Tucson and a Gold Student ADDY Award® in the AAF District 12 competition.

The Tucson AdFed Hall of Fame Award was founded in 1986 as Tucson’s Advantage to recognize the meaningful contributions of local professionals to the Tucson advertising community and to preserve the legacy of the past and it’s connection to the future.  The initial inductees were members of the original Tucson Ad Club who represented a wide variety of industry disciplines including the media (broadcasting and sales), public relations, marketing, advertising agencies and business. New inductees are added each year during the annual Hall of Fame awards ceremony.  

The Tucson AdFed Next Generation Award was founded in 2014 to recognize those outstanding advertising individuals age 40 and younger who are making a significant impact on the industry through their leadership, career achievements and personal qualities, which also inspire others to excel.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Nominees to the Next Generation Award are judged on the following criteria:
Those individuals who are employed in the advertising industry in the Tucson Market (advertiser, agency, media,design or other related fields), who have made measurable career results in their field and who have motivated and inspired others to excel by mentoring, inspiring, training or volunteering.

Nominees to the Advertising Hall of Fame are judged on the following criteria:
Those men and women who have distinguished themselves in their advertising careers, who have contributed to the betterment of advertising and its reputation and who have made significant voluntary efforts outside the workplace, including service to AAFT and/or other similar organizations, as well as service to local non-profit organizations supporting positive causes. AAF Tucson does not require individuals to have retired from the advertising industry prior to nominating/induction into the local Advertising Hall of Fame.
